Three tools dominate every “what should I use to build my app?” thread on Reddit: Lovable, Bolt, and Cursor. They get lumped together constantly, but our State of App Building — February 2026 report — drawing on 345 citations across Reddit, X/Twitter, platform forums, and industry sources — reveals they occupy very different positions in the landscape, with very different failure modes.
Lovable scored 4.46 out of 10 in our visual builder rankings (4th of 7). Bolt wasn’t individually scored but sits in the same tier as Lovable and Base44 (4.32). Cursor scored 5.76 out of 10 in the developer tool rankings (2nd of 5, behind only Claude Code at 6.60).
